Chopin in the Children’s Eyes

On the 9th of March, on the Ołowianka Isle, one could listen to a Chopin Concert organized by: the Parents’ Council and the Teaching Staff of the Jan Brzechwa Primary School № 84 in Gdańsk - Kiełpino Górne ant the Polish Baltic Fryderyk Chopin Philharmonic in Gdańsk. Sławomir Wilk, a pianist, was a special guest to the concert that also included performances by the children of the Primary School № 84. 

 

The event was started with the children’s dancing performance “Time to Start the Polonaise” to the music of Fryderyk Chopin’s Polonaise in A-flat. This was followed by a declamatory competition during which poems relating to Chopin’s life and works were recited. Also, two young artists, Aleksandra Duda and Bartosz Migas, learners of the pianist art, performed on stage. Then, the awards in the plastic arts competition entitled “A Portrait of Fryderyk Chopin” were given to its winners and the children presented a theatrical play on the life and works of Fryderyk Chopin. Later on, a knowledge competition on the composer took place, which was followed by a performance by little musicians - Iga Czubak and Robert Stoiński (pianos) as well as Piotr and Jakub Klawikowski (guitars). Then, best albums in English on Fryderyk Chopin’s life and works were awarded and that extraordinary event was ended by awarding the winners in the plastic arts competition entitled “Chopin in the Children’s Eyes”. 

 

The concert was held under the honorary patronage of: Jan Kozłowski - the Marshall of the Pomeranian Voivodship, Bogdan Oleszek - the Chairman of the Gdańsk City Council, and Roman Paszke - a sailor.
